Trip schedule

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN CAYENNE

Arrival at Cayenne airport.
You will be welcomed by a team member from Guyane Evasion, who will display a welcome sign… he will review the detail of your program, will hand you your welcome pack and will assist you picking your rental car up, or arrange private transportation to your hotel.
Complimentary dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel in Cayenne 2 ** or 3 *** is included.

DAY 2 – MARIPASOULA – GOBAYASOULA – ANTECUM PATA

Morning flight from Cayenne on Air Guyane (1-hour flight).
Arrival in Maripasoula. Stop to the shops to buy supplies (incl. bottled mineral water).
12.00am – Your pirogue (dugout canoe) casts off from Maripasoula and motors down to the Amerindian village of Antécum Pata.
Stops are scheduled en route to visit the Gobayasoula cascades.

DAY 3 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast at the village.
Further navigation on pirogue (5 to 6 hours each day).
Stops are scheduled en route to visit 1 or 2 of the last Amerindian villages before you adventure in the uninhabited Amazonian forest begins.
Camping night in the forest.

DAY 4 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast.
Further navigation on pirogue (5 to 6 hours each day).
Stops scheduled for lunch and to discover French Guiana plants and wildlife.
Camping night in the forest.

DAY 5 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Arrival at the bottom of Mount Tumuc Humac (ca. 2,362ft high). Forest base camp.
Part of your personal belongings will be stored there in “touks” (airtight plastic barrels).
Time to prepare your rucksack (ideally waterproof) with your survival kit for the next 3 to 4 days to be spent on the mountain slopes (hammock, blanket, food tins, individual tarpaulin, etc.).
Climbing Mount Tumuc Humac begins: 1 hour of trekking on level ground but across a number of creeks and mudflats; then 5 hours of real climbing to reach to the top—with plenty of obstacles (difficulty rate: 4/5). This climbing requires to be in good physical condition.
Top to be reached in the late afternoon.
Camping night on Mount Talwaken.

DAY 6 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Group breakfast.
Free time on Mount Tumuc Humac. Your guide may take you to a beautiful little cascade (ca. 30 minutes of walking).
He will also tell you about the legends surrounding the mythical mountains all around.
2nd camping night on Mount Tumuc Humac.

DAY 7 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast on the slopes.
Free day to explore and enjoy the stunning views.
3rd camping night on Mount Talwaken.

DAY 8 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast on the slopes.
Downward return trek (5 hours of hiking).
Late afternoon arrival at the forest base camp.
Camping night at the base camp.

DAY 9 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast.
Return pirogue trip (5 to 6 hours of navigation).
Camping night in the forest.

DAY 10 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Breakfast.
Return pirogue trip (5 to 6 hours of navigation).
Camping night in Antécum Pata.

DAY 11 – EXPEDITION MONTS TUMUC HUMAC

Arrival at Maripasoula.
Transfer to Maripasoula airport.
Flight to Cayenne.
Complimentary dinner and night in a hotel on Cayenne.

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST BE IN PERFECT PHYSICAL CONDITION TO TAKE THIS TRIP!

DAY 12 – DEPARTURE

Breakfast at your hotel is included.
You will have enough time in the morning to make your last purchases and visit Cayenne’s market (On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays only).
Complimentary lunch In the afternoon, transfer to Cayenne airport (30 min drive)
