EXPLORING THE MARONI RIVER – 1/2 DAY
Trip schedule
Half-day River Tour (9.30am to 12.30am or 2.00pm to 5.00pm)
Your departure meeting point is our landing stage at St Jean du Maroni (a 15 minutes’ drive from St Laurent) where you will board a motorized pirogue and cast off to explore the Maroni River.
This river tour will take you to the “Ile Portal” river island, the Amerindian village of Biguiston and its polishing stones and finally to the Wacapou creek.
Extra stops may include a number of other Maroon and Amerindian villages where you can discover crafts and local workshops (pirogue building, “couac” flour preparation from cassava roots; peanut shelling and sorting, etc.).
Your return trip then brings you back to St Jean du Maroni.
