Trip Schedule<\/h2>\n

Full-day River Tour (9.00am to 5.00pm) \u2013 St Jean du Maroni, Apatou and the \u201cSaut Hermine\u201d rapids<\/span><\/p>\n

9.00am – Your departure meeting point is our landing stage at St Jean du Maroni (a 15 minutes\u2019 drive from St Laurent) where you will board a motorized pirogue and cast off to explore the Maroni River.<\/p>\n

This river tour will take you to the \u201cIle Portal\u201d river island, the Amerindian village of Biguiston and its polishing stones and finally to the Wacapou creek. Extra stops may include a number of other Maroon and Amerindian villages where you can discover crafts and local workshops (pirogue building, \u201ccouac\u201d flour preparation from cassava roots; peanut shelling and sorting, etc.).<\/p>\n

11.00am \u2013 Exploration of the former \u201cForesti\u00e8re\u201d penal colony (depending on the season, this will include a visit of the ruins and\/or discovery of the local fauna and flora).<\/p>\n

12.00am \u2013 Arrival at Apatou. Tour of the village\u2014the capital of Tembe art.<\/p>\n

01.00pm \u2013 Thrill as your pirogue navigates the Saut Hermine rapids\u2014right before your lunch stop and leisure time for swimming.<\/p>\n

03.30pm \u2013 Return to St Jean du Maroni.
