A TRIP TO THE “SAUT LUCIFER”

Trip Schedule

Day 1

8.30am – Meeting for departure at the “Barrage de Petit Saut” landing stage (1h30-min. drive from Cayenne).
You will then board a pirogue and motor down to the “Saut Lu Excursion” camp. During this 1 hour of travel, you will navigate the dam lake at Petit Saut where submerged trees still show on the surface—an uncanny vision in the heart of tropical forest surroundings.

10.00am – Arrival on campsite. Site tour and installation will be followed by a typical welcome drink, e.g. Ti Punch.

12.00am – Campsite lunch (Guianese and Brazilian specialties) served with non-alcoholic drinks.

2.00pm – This will be followed by a wide array of afternoon activities: sport fishing for Aimaras (aka. wolf fish); setting of nets; forest treks; river swimming and sports practice (soccer, volleyball, badminton or bowls).

7.30pm – Campsite dinner served with non-alcoholic drinks. Then off to a restful night in your hammock!

Day 2

6.00am – Early morning hauling of nets (let’s see what you caught!)

7.00am – Campsite breakfast.

10.00am – A typical “blaff” (fish marinade) will be served using your own catch. This will be followed by free time for rest or more activities (more fishing, forest treks, sports, etc.).

1.00pm – Campsite lunch (Guianese food and non-alcoholic drinks).

3.00pm – Departure on pirogue to return to the “Barrage de Petit Saut” landing stage.

5.00pm – Arrival at the landing stage.
